Baggage Checks in the U.S.

Baggage Checks in the U.S.

At present, checked baggage is inspected at all U.S. commercial airports when you travel into and out of the U.S.. You will not have further access to your baggage once the authorities have screened them. Before you hand over your baggage for screening, please remove all the belongings you will need on board.

As advised by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA), passengers are asked to leave their baggage UNLOCKED to facilitate the inspection procedure. TSA will not be liable for any damage caused to locked baggage if it is opened as part of the screening procedure.

In the event that TSA screeners open your baggage during the screening procedure, they will close it with a tamper-evident seal and place a notice on your baggage alerting you that TSA screeners have opened your baggage for inspection.

As this procedure is governed by U.S. legislation and beyond our control, China Airlines will not be liable for any damage to or any item loss from your baggage.

For various regulations of U.S. authorities and TSA, please access the TSA website (in English only). Especially if you intend to bring some special items such as compressed gas cylinders, paintball equipment, or scuba equipment, we suggest that you browse the website in addition to checking airlines rules or contact TSA contact center directly.
